NOOK is a line of Barnes & Noble's electronic reading products comprising a purposeful eBook Reader including a free eReading software applications that run on many different computing and mobile systems like iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, Android smartphones and of course personal computers.
Publishing Ebooks with Barnes and Noble
Barnes and Noble’s has a so called “PubIt” tool allowing members to upload their books from multiple types of format and the most common would be Microsoft Word and other formats like RTF, TXT, or HTML.
The duty of the PubIt tool starts when converting eBook file for use on Barnes and Noble's Nook ebook reader.

Important Things to Remember
B&N’s Nook requires all publishers to take serious understanding of all legal terms and conditions in regards to publication agreements. Below are the top six to introduce:
Content Policy Restrictions – The PubIt! Content Policy prohibits the use of pornographic text and images. Including ones that are libelous, defamatory, or those that are infringing copyright. Advertisements are also restricted even if they are ads for the book or author, calls to action (ex: "Please review this book."), hyperlinks or URLS, and contact information of the publisher or the author.Distribution and or Compatibility – PubIt! eBooks that are subject for sale or distribution through the Barnes & Noble eBookstore are available for sale on BN.com, and through NOOK eBook Readers, and B&N's free NOOK eReading software for iPad, iPhone/iPod touch, Android, PC, etc. PubIt! ebooks compatible with MAC or Blackberry devices.
Editorial Services – PubIt! does have editorial services to manage your manuscript.
Pricing – Royalty from Publt! ranges between 40% to 65% depending on the price set by the publisher or the author.
Uploading – Registered authors on Publt! can upload content and book data at no cost.
Proprietary Advantages – eBooks that are placed on sale through PubIt! shall be added in some of Barnes & Noble's marketing programs like the following:
- Read In Store, which allows bricks & mortar B&N customers to browse an ebook for a maximum of one hour.
- Sharing eBooks with LendMe Technology that allows eBook owners to share a book once, for two weeks; and
- Sampling, that allows readers to download 5% of an eBook before they decide to purchase.
